As the guest of honour, Indonesia wanted to show its diversity through the tagline '17,000 Islands of Imagination'. 

Visitors are free to explore the 'islands' in between the 'sea' of lanterns.

 

10,000 LED dots were installed and individually programmed to create natural waves of the sea, as well as to emphasise the character of each 'island'.

 

Each 'island' takes more than 10 hours to programme due to the number of LED used.
